My company is a small video editing company that works with a local broadcast station (a PBS affiliate) to create locally-produced television shows for broadcast and for upload to youtube for viewing online. The network I will design needs to support non-linear video editing, graphic design, creation of 2D animated graphics and file flipping. I will be going with the full Adobe CC Creative Suite for each system. These systems will also be more cost-efficient as they will also do the work more traditional desktop computers do by having the software installed to do word processing, web browsing, planning (calendars), and email. Each system will have Microsoft Office 365 to meet these needs. The company is small so it only needs four desktop editing systems.

Needing the ability to push larges files to the television station the upload speed is actually more important than the download speed so making the most out of having 30Mbps Upload is critical.

I tried making sure that all the purchases in this plan have the longest warranty as possible but that the equipment still came from name brand well-respected companies in the industry. The shortest warranty is the standard one year but many pieces of equipment came with a three-year warranty.

Conclusion:
The cost of editing video is high because of the equipment demands. The amount of processing power and the need for speed to move very large video files very quickly make it so that you need at least the middle of the pack type of equipment to high-end equipment. The plus side to this is that really you can see a five-year life span for most equipment rather than the standard 3-year replacement cycle.
