Assignment 3: Cloud Services & Platform Plan for my Organization
My company Ozarks Public Television Independent Productions (OPT-IP) is a small video editing company that works with a local broadcast station (a PBS affiliate) to create locally-produced television shows for broadcast and for upload to youtube for viewing online. The systems I will design need to support non-linear video editing, graphic design, creation of 2D animated graphics and file flipping. I will be going with the full Adobe CC Creative Suite for each system. These systems will also be more cost-efficient as they will also do the work more traditional desktop computers do by having the software installed to do word processing, web browsing, planning (calendars), and email. Each system will have Microsoft Office 365 to meet these needs.
Based on the service models established by NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) there are three groupings of cloud services: Software as a Service, Platform as a Service (SaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS).
We will be using a SaaS system with three different vendors. As this report is to just gain information about the services offered we will be required to contact a sales representative to get actual pricing so this will just be about the services offered.
Programs and Applications Services
This area will be using two different companies Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office 365. Both of these software companies are the industry standards in their respected areas. Adobe will handle the video and audio editing, graphic generation, digital animation, and media creation software. Microsoft Office 365 will handle the email, word processing, spreadsheets, and database software. It also comes with communication tools that can be useful in business such as Skype.
Data Analytics and Database Services
Amazon Web Services or AWS offers the following descriptions "AWS delivers an integrated suite of services that provide everything needed to quickly and easily build and manage a data lake for analytics. AWS-powered data lakes can handle the scale, agility, and flexibility required to combine different types of data and analytics approaches to gain deeper insights, in ways that traditional data silos and data warehouses cannot. AWS gives customers the widest array of analytics and machine learning services, for easy access to all relevant data, without compromising on security or governance."
Most of the services that AWS provides are very universal and global in there use.
Runtime
The AWS Cloud Development Kit (AWS CDK) is an open-source software development framework to model and provision your cloud application resources using familiar programming languages.
Using this cloud development kit can help us create our web presence in the virtual space.
Middleware
AWS offers Oracle as a middleware option. Amazon Web Services supports Oracle databases and offers enterprises several solutions for migrating and deploying their enterprise applications on the AWS cloud. Customers can launch entire enterprise software stacks from Oracle on the AWS cloud, and they can build enterprise-grade Oracle applications using database and middleware software from Oracle.
Operating System
Windows 10 has over 50 percent of the market share of computers in the world making it the leader in the computing world.
Virtualization and Computer Services
Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2). Amazon EC2 is the Amazon Web Service you use to create and run virtual machines in the cloud.
Servers
Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) is a web service that provides secure, resizable compute capacity in the cloud. It is designed to make web-scale cloud computing easier for developers. Amazon EC2’s simple web service interface allows you to obtain and configure capacity with minimal friction. It provides you with complete control of your computing resources and lets you run on Amazon’s proven computing environment.
Storage or RAID
Both Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office 365 offer data and cloud storage for files that you would need to work on within the respected platforms.
Networking
AWS has many networking partners that the company can work with to get us up and running.
Warranty
All three companies back up there service with product guarantees.
